optimus primeThe costume for kids Halloween is an enduring tradition we all love.
Trick or treating is fun, and most children enjoy dressing up and running about the neighborhood going house to house “trick or treating” at neighbors, family members, and friends houses for candy and treats on Halloween.

supergirlThe most exciting thing for kids on Halloween is their costume (in addition to all the free candy they’ll get!)  You can choose from simple costumes to very elaborate disguises — so complete that even grandmas won’t recognize their little spooks! But how do you know which costume to choose?  You can order costumes online for boys, for girls, and cute ones for baby all in a wide variety.

If you can’t afford an elaborate Halloween costume, an old bed sheet will make a quick ghost. Alternatively, you can create a clown costume from old mis-matched clothing. Scary vampire and witch costumes can be found at fairly inexpensive and affordable prices, as well.

gryffindor robesIf your “little monster” likes a particular cartoon, movie, or comic character, and you’re willing to spend the money, chances are that you can find a costume in his or her size at the local department store or Halloween specialty shop. Plus, there’s always a huge selection of crazy outfits that you can order online at great prices. Just remember, though, that children grow quickly and their tastes change equally as fast. This costume is more than likely a one-time wear, so don’t mortgage your house to satisfy a whim!

Many costumes are fire-retardant, which can be helpful if your little firefighter is considering playing with matches instead of candy! Seriously, though, be careful of costumes that drag the ground and could cause your trick-or-treater to trip. Also, check for small buttons or other accessories that could be easily detached and placed in the mouth by a small child.

batmanDepending on the weather, comfortable shoes or boots to match the costume will complete the look.  Here’s a cool idea to sew or glue shoe covers over regular shoes.  And the goodie bag to haul all that loot needs to match the theme of the costume, yet be sturdy enough to last throughout the evening.  A really fun part of trick-or-treating is that you get to carry a really cool flashlight.  They could even wear a “headlight” flashlight, then the other kids would think they were a cyclops!  There’s even a whole bunch of vintage noisemakers to look at.  Or how about listening to NASA’s spooky sounds from outer space, I dare you!

Keep it safe, and the holiday will be more fun for everyone!
